5th Sept:Friday's Activities. An art exhibition by Byron Bay resident and tanguera Jan Rae may be viewed during the festival at Retrospect Galleries, 52 Jonson Street, Byron Bay. The paintings relate mostly to tango and are for sale. 8-11pm. Events at the Byron Bay Community Centre.(Entry to all events $15; tickets at door). 8 pm start. Two films, including the world premier of the film "one tango moment" by director Carla Thakrah. These latest films by Carla trace the trials and triumphs of the 2007 Australian winners of the International Tango Competition. 9.30-11pm.Following the films there will be a promotional tango performance by this year's master teachers and performers, Murat & Michelle, followed by the Welcome Milonga to 11pm 6th Sept: Festival Milonga at the Byron Bay Community Centre from 8.30pm - midnight with Tango Paradiso playing and performances by Murat and Michelle. Entry $30. General public welcome! 7th Sept: Sunday Farewell Milonga. Unwind after a busy week-end with more tango! 8-10.30 pm at Satori (map), 25 Childe Street, Belongil (6685 6151). |
